A book and a half

Lately, my nonexistent blog makes me think I am not much of a writer, but when I consider the hours I’ve recently spent writing, I guess I might still (barely) qualify for the title. šŸ˜‰

So, I really have been writing, just not here. This is a bad and good thing, bad because I’ve been neglecting my website and good because I’ve been devoting time to two books. Yes, two! Well, one and a half…

The half is a Converters Trilogy novella–the story of Desiree’s mother. I loved writing this book and will admit I did indulge in a lot of cameos with some of my favorite characters. On the flip side, it was hard to write because I had limited myself with a history of the main character and basis of her story already known. All in all, it was a good challenge and I’m really excited to get my newsletter in place and offer this book for FREE to those who sign up. (If you aren’t a newsletter person, don’t worry, it will be available online too!). Release will be this summer…exactly when, I don’t know.

The second project I’m working on is a standalone YA novel. I don’t want to say too much about this one because I’m considering trying to get this traditionally published.

I do love self-publishing, but there’s something about this book that is different. I felt like I wrote the Converters Trilogy for me–taking all of my favorite things and making them into a story, but with this new novel, I feel like I’m writing it for other people (specifically teenage girls) and I want to get it to the widest audience possible.

I’m still not sure what direction I’ll go with it. Right now, I’m focusing on the writing. I have the first half of this already to betas and hope to finish the rest in the next two weeks. I’ve given myself a five week deadline for this one from the first sentence to the end.

Lofty? Yeah, probably so, but it’s doable…I think.

I will tell you that half of this book takes place in a fantasy world and I’ve had a blast researching armor, weapons, castles, and creating mythical beasts. I’m really excited and can’t wait to share it all with you!!

Until then, I’m going to make a written commitment right now to get some more blogs up here, one to better explain the long lull in my writing and a bonus chapter from Blake’s perspective. Any scene you would love to see through his eyes? Let me know in the comments below!
