The End is Coming
This is a good end. At least I’m trying to make it a good one because the Converters trilogy only has one book left. Right now, I’m attempting to perfect and prepare to release it. (I’ll for sure release it, but the perfecting is always in question). So, I’ve been thinking about release dates…tricky little buggers to set. The first time I was asked about The Conclave’s release I did some quick math and said late spring. Later, I realized I’m not good at quick math. See, it took me 8 months between...

I don’t think I’m the only one who is ready for January to be over. (If only the end of this month also meant the end of winter as well). BUT we have to be getting closer and to celebrate, I’m offering THE CONVERGENCE for FREE today!

My three kids all received Kindle’s from Santa so I’ve been searching for some e-books they might enjoy. My middle child is almost 8, and I picked this book for him. He isn’t an avid reader like my oldest, but reading on his Kindle is the coolest way to read–according to him. He really enjoyed this Middle Grade book, Andy and Annie by Jenni James. Andy has just moved to a new house. He isn’t at all excited about the move, but when he see what looks like a mysterious girl in the window, he’s curious. He...

This is one of those books I picked up on impulse. So there it was, downloaded, and then it was read. The book is Stay by Emily Evans. This book was not at all what I expected. There was a lot more drama and physicality than I expected, because the other book I had read by this author was more on the cute, rom-com side. The main character, Mia, was fantastic. She was over-the-top in a lot of ways, but you couldn’t help but like her. She was confident and honest-oh, so perfectly honest-about how she felt about Alexi. I liked...
read moreReview Wednesday- Just the Essentials
I’m not sure what this book’s genre would be…probably contemporary romance. I’ll go with that for another great one by Shari L. Tapscott called Just the Essentials. This book is about Kinsley who is an author searching for a publisher. Her family sends her to help clean-up a cabin they own in the mountains of Colorado. She goes up there, finding the cabin more rundown than anyone thought, but luckily Jack is there to save her from chipmunks and leaky roofs. Oh, and she’s coming off of a three-year...

Jody Hedlund is an author I’ve always enjoyed. I’m glad she’s writing some YA now and finally got around to reading A Daring Sacrifice. This book was…good. Not fantastic like some of this author’s others, but really good. It’s the story of Lady Juliana who is driven from her home by her uncle and cousin. To protect her people and herself, she hides in the woods, stealing from the rich to provide for the people. Obvious Robin Hood stuff, right? Next door, the landowner dies and his son returns to take...

This is how my internet has been lately: It works then it doesn’t. And WITHOUT FAIL it is not working when I sit down to blog. I think it’s a conspiracy. In fact, since it is working right now, I’m typing furiously to get this posted before the inevitable crash. I’d like to blame it on all the winter storms, but the more likely culprit is living in the middle of nowhere. With great effort, I’ll stop my internet rate and get to the point of this blog. I set a goal to read 100 books this year. Yay, me!! Well, the...
read moreReview Tuesday – The Princess Fugitive
When I review Melanie Cellier’s first book, The Princess Companion, I mentioned being excited to read the next in the series because it followed the villain from the first book. The Princess Fugitive was different than other reads for that reason and many more. This book is a re-imagining of little, red riding hood. And while I could see the inspiration, it was really a story all its own. In the beginning, Princess Ava avoids an assassination attempt and flees the castle with her guard, Hans. During this time we come to...
read moreBest of 2016
I know I’m a little late to the game, but I wanted to post a list of my top 10 favorite reads of 2016. These aren’t books that were necessarily released in 2016, but ones I read last year. In truth, I don’t know exactly how many books I read, but I’m sure it was over a hundred…probably more like two. Which means choices, lots of choices. To make this even more interesting, I’m picking a Disney GIF that I think best sums up how I feel about the book. Oh, and each link will take you to my full review of the...
read moreReview Tuesday – Accidental Cinderella
I downloaded this book when I was on a fairy tale retelling kick, not realizing it was a contemporary novel. Despite not being what I thought it was, I enjoyed Accidental Cinderella by Emily Evans. This is the story of a girl who unexpectedly gets a scholarship to an exclusive, elite school. To escape her horrible stepmother, she takes the scholarship without asking any questions. Once there, she gets thrown into a world of prestige and meets Hale and a whole lot of other problems. Ella is a character who’s layers unfold with the...
