Summertime!

I’m one of those mom who gets more excited than my kids for summer break. We can stay home and do nothing all day together? Perfect! Not that we do that too often, but it’s nice to know you can, right?

This summer we have lots of fun planned. Camping trips, a pool, tree house renovations, fishing, family reunions…the list goes on and on. It’s all pretty much the same as last year, we one major addition.

Writing.

I took all of last summer off from writing. Spending time with the kids and all of the other crazy stuff I had going on just made it a stress. This year, I’m trying to change my attitude about it and making sure to set aside time for it. Writing will be my stress reliever….my little escape from the kids day in and day out. (My kids are awesome by the way, but more time together equals more arguments and sometimes it’s just too much!)

I figure if I tell you all my plans for writing this summer, I’ll be more likely to stick with it. So, here they are: Finishing up edits on book two, The Keep. My beta readers are finishing their reading, so this will start happening before the end of the month. I’m also planning on working on plotting for book three and hope to have a full outline ready by fall. I’ll be writing a huge portion on this one in November during National Novel month. When I’m not doing this, I’ll be working on a rework of The Convergence from Blake’s perspective (a novella-length book).

Lots of writing, I know! I’m going to attempt to fit it in on our at-home days. Also, my husband takes the kids and does dinner on Tuesday nights. That helps keep me on track a ton! Other than that, it will be summer fun! When fall rolls around (sad thought) I hope to be able to report that words were written, plots were formed, and edits were completed. Happy summer, my friends!
