Now that the beta copy of The Conclave (the finale!!) is out, I think it’s time to share my playlist! It was really hard to narrow this list down to ten, but I finally managed. Overall, the music I listened to this round was a lot harder rock. Probably because, as the final book, this one was more intense and so the music followed. Here’s The Conclave‘s top ten (and a bonus):
#1 My Demons by Starset
The panicked, edgy feel of this song is Desiree after everything at The Keep. And hope, there’s some hope in there too!
#2 Unsteady by X Ambassadors
This song just hits me. So much desperation-it gets me in the feels every time and is (again) how I imagine Desiree feels at the beginning of this book.
#3 Hurricane by Truslow
Of course this one made the list! I mentioned it in a past blog as my go to song aka Desiree and Blake’s song.
#4 Be Somebody by Thousand Foot Crutch
The lyrics of this song make me think of Blake and how he thinks of Desiree. “We all wanna be somebody. We just need a taste of who we are. We all wanna be somebody. We’re willing to go, but not that far.” Those lines hit me every time, really powerful stuff.
#5 Pieces by Rob Thomas
“Didn’t I tell you you were gonna break down? Didn’t I want you? Everybody wants you. Tell me what you’re needing, give until you’re bleeding.” If you’re read the books, this one’s pretty self-explanatory.
#6 Hemorrhage (In my Hands) by Fuel
I know, I know this song dates me. But for some reason, I’ve always liked this song and rediscovered it again while writing this and it fits Desiree’s darker moments.
#7 Stand By You by Rachel Platten
This one isn’t only for Desiree and Blake’s, but her relationship with Denny. That bond between siblings is big in The Conclave.
#8 Feel Invincible by Skillet
Part of me just loves watching that girl rocking out on the drums, but the other part of me screams that these lyrics could have been written for The Converters series. I could seriously quote the whole song here. I love it all.
#9 Legendary by Welshly Arms
Another song that could have been written for this book. I stumbled into this gem during edits and listened to it more times than I’d like to admit.
#10 Between the Raindrops by Lifehouse
This song inspired a whole scene in The Conclave, so even though it isn’t my favorite, it gets a mention and the final, official top ten spot.
Bonus: Believer by Imagine Dragons
I had to throw this last one in here! I just heard this a couple of week ago, so it didn’t make the official playlist, but if it had been released it would have…and I have to have an Imagine Dragons song on this list! Hope you enjoyed the musical glimpse into the final book. Remember, The Conclave will be out mid-July!!!
