Cover Reveal!
I know I released this cover on facebook last week, but I realized I need an official cover reveal on my website! I didn’t realize until we were already in the middle that I asked for very difficult cover design. But once we (my awesome web/book designer and I) had the vision, we had to make it a reality. So here it is…the long awaited cover of THE CONVERGENCE!!! EEEEKKKK!!! Isn’t it awesome? I think is was absolutely worth the wait and I’ll be totally willing to let this book be judged by the cover. 😉 My idea for using water for the cover...

Chapter 1 Bonfires don’t agree with me. Tonight’s had potential, but already I’m suffering—crammed in a truck cab next to Blake Thomas. His nearness sparks my nerves. He reeks of arrogance and something else altogether too pleasant. The truck takes a corner on two wheels jamming Blake’s elbow into my ribs. I shift away, pressing against Nichole on my other side. Even though my best friend is the one who invited Blake, somehow I’m stuck next to him. Apparently justice doesn’t agree with me either. We fly over a dry creek bed, forcing my stiff...

I know, I know! I did let slip some time ago that my book would be released mid-November and now we are past mid and heading toward the end. Update: we are working hard to get it released asap. I promise! I am not trying to build anticipation, in fact I’m dying of it! So very, very soon I will have a specific release date. I was going to release my first chapter, but (once again) I’m trying to save you from this insanity-inducing anticipation. The minute I have a release date is the minute I will release my first chapter so you...

I couldn’t decide what to blog about today so I looked to my new favorite YouTube channels for some inspiration. For those of you as behind as I am…I’m talking about Book Tubing. (Instead of a website/blog devoted to book talk and reviews this is a YouTube channel with vlogs). I recommend this to any reader or want-to-be-reader—just check out www.youtube.com and search for book tube or a specific book you’re interested in hearing about. Now that I’ve gotten completely off topic…let me spin myself around here. Okay, I found this series of...
read moreFormatting Fun
Yes, this a very sarcastic title. Because let me just tell you right now, FORMATTING IS NOT FUN. My husband and I thought it would be no problem—we’re pretty computer savy people. But knowing computer and knowing how to format are two very different things. I know that now—after a very long weekend. When I say long weekend that doesn’t sound too bad. One weekend? No problem. But consider this… the weekend was full of me backtalking youtube videos (they make it seem easy), numerous arguments with inanimate objects...
read moreGoing Indie
I am now officially calling it…I am going to be an indie author!!! (insert excited squeal here). I didn’t necessary want to be an indie author. Yes, I did try to find an agent and go through a traditional publishing house. After my most recent ‘this is good, but not good for us’ rejection, I realized a few things. And these things are making me very, very excited about being an indie author. I don’t have to wait!! That’s right. The book is done, been edited again and again and again. It’s ready. By not going the traditional route, I don’t...

I think every writer has something that comes first and foremost—a singular thing that motivates and shapes their stories. For some it’s the plot. For others it’s a strong visual of location or a message to convey. Often it’s a character. For me it’s dialogue. All I write is built around this—the plot forms to conversations I’ve already envisioned, the scenery is filled in behind the conversations, the words define the character’s personalities. Dialogue is where it all starts. This probably makes my plotting even more difficult. I have to...

“I’d wanted him here to help me stay strong…not to be a witness my weakness.” – Desiree in THE CONVERGENCE I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to be seen crying—or with any kind of weakness. Even when I’m sick I’m like “Leave me to die in peace!!” But I’ve finally come to realize that some weakness are okay to share (not sickness, keep that to yourselves people!). Over time, I’ve learned to look to my husband and other family members for comfort and sympathy. They’re all nice people and are usually perfectly...

I sit down to write this with a lot of trepidation. It will probably be one of the hardest blogs I’ve written, but I can’t let the opportunity to honor someone so dear to me who has meant so much to me pass by. My grandpa passed away earlier this year. His death wasn’t a surprise (his health had been failing for a long time), but there is still a continual sense of loss. Grandpa Don was a writer. A great writer. He wrote cowboy poetry and his words touched people with their humor and honesty. I remember going to a convention where he was...

This is our newest corral inhabitant: Cute, huh? After much deliberation we’ve named him Duke. He’s got attitude enough for two horses so don’t let his innocent looks fool you. His mom is Ruby (she’s my current favorite) and this blog is actually about her. There are certain horses that just stand out in my mind. I think it’s because of the experiences I’ve shared with them. For example, in our hayday (see what I just did there?) Ruby and I: *Kept all the men we worked with on their toes. (Being the minority on the ranch, us girls stick...
