Review Tuesday – Robin: Lady of Legend
Historical fiction is the genre of the day! With very little deliberation, I’ve decided to review Robin: Lady of Legend by R.M. ArceJaeger. In this retelling of Robin Hood, Robin is a girl. All the usual characters are here, Mariam, Will Scarlet, Little John, etc. Robin’s father is Lord Locksley and arranges a marriage between her and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin runs away, intending to go to London, but ends up deep in Sherwood forest and the rest is history. Which leads to my one problem with this book:...

A very long while ago, I promised to write about the authors who influenced my writing. I’m an absolute believer that the best writers are readers. I LOVE to read and this is probably an understatement (seriously, my Kindle is my best friend). Here are the author’s I’ve admired since before I can remember and what I love about them: First up, Miss Jane Austen: Wit. Austen’s books are full of sly, sometimes surprising humor. I especially love her dialogue and the verbal sparring. I focus a lot of my writing on dialogue....

Oh, man. You guys are lucky I am writing this one for you. What I would really like to do is go and read this book again. Seriously. I liked Clandestine by Nichole Van that much. Yes, this is book three in a series. Should you read books one and two. Yes. Why am I reviewing book three? Because. It. Is. Hilarious. I’m giggling just thinking about parts of this book right now. For background, there’s a time portal from now to the Regency Era. In book one Marc’s sister gets sucked through and falls for a...

The question I get asked the most (after the basic what is your book about, when is the next one coming out, and why did you decide to write) is how long it takes to write a book. I’m finding this isn’t something that varies only from author to author, but from book to book. The Convergence took me 5 years start to finish. And when I say finish I mean completed edited and set for release. More on that writing process is in this blog. The Keep has been very, very different for me to write. I started with an outline this...

I’m trying to do some genre jumping with my reviews, so today we’re going fantasy. K.M. Shea is kind of my idol of indie-authorship. She releases a book (get this) every 3 months! Yes, every 3 months. They are a little shorter at about 200 pages each, but still 3 months, people! I’ve read almost all of her books and it was a debate which to review first, but Princess Ahira won out! This book is complete fantasy. Dragons, mythical creatures, and other magical stuff. Our princess is kidnapped by a dragon...

Everyone who has read The Convergence wants to know what happens next! It’s really, really hard for me to not give it all away. Instead, I’ll give you a vague, little idea of what’s coming with my playlist from book two, The Keep. These are the songs that inspire my writing, fit a certain scene, or express similar emotions. I’m putting them, not in order of my favorite, but in the order they would (for me) go in the book. The last two are just kind of comprehensive to The Keep. How is this for giving hints but...

I don’t read a lot of contemporary Young Adult, but occasionally I’ll get in the mood for some good modern day angst. Awhile ago, I stumbled across Kelly Oram. I’ve really liked some of her books and some….well, I haven’t liked so much. When I found If We Were a Movie, I decided to give it a try. This book is about a college freshman (Nate) who, through his crazy brother’s and the interference of a match maker, finds himself moving in with a girl (Jordan). Of course, his girlfriend isn’t happy...
