New Characters-Meet Andrea and Petr Makovsky

Posted by Tenille on July 10, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

Too much summer fun has put me a little behind, so today we’re doubling up our character introductions! Name/Age: Petr Makovsky, mid-50’s and Andrea Makovsky, mid-40’s Occupation: Czech leaders. Part of the Conclave. Abilities: Petr and Andrea are both standard converters, unable to externally convert. They also have the annoying ability to see more in Desiree than she sees in herself..and expect more. Desiree’s take…Petr: “His voice is Slavically accented, drawing out the vowels in Blake’s name and...

Review Tuesday – We Thought We Were Invincible

Posted by Tenille on June 13, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

I read these two books back to back (believe me, you’ll want to do the same) so I’m going to review them here back to back. We Thought We Were Invincible was one of those stories that took me by surprise. I knew it would be emotional from the cover, but never expected in what ways. This wasn’t all angst and romance. Yes, there was romance, but also great depth. Lynn never allows this story to become about one problem, but the overarching problems in life. Which makes this book real, because rarely do we face only one obstacle at a time. The...

New Characters – Meet Kerrill Ryker

Posted by Tenille on June 10, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

Summer is here…and that means we’re moving closer to The Conclave’s release and that I have another character introduction for you!! Name/Age: Kerrill Ryker, 35 Occupation: Government agent…at least until he went rogue, setting a host of deadly skills loose. Abilities: Ryker is a super-charged converter. Due to government experimentation, all of his emotions are turned to power. Jian’s take: “Ryker is an animal. He can sense things. He can sense Blake’s pulse is higher. He can sense his awareness of someone...

New Characters – Meet Jian Zhao

Posted by Tenille on June 2, 2017 in In the Book, In The Writing | 1 comment

Before I even began to outline THE CONCLAVE, I had a few new characters in mind. Jian Zhao was one of those early creations. Here are his stats: Name/Age: Jian Zhao, 24 Origin: Hong Kong Occupation: Mercenary. With his looks, multilingual knowledge, and intelligence, he goes wherever money (or excitement) can be found. Abilities: Jian is an incredibly talented external converter…he’s also an incredibly talented seducer. Desiree’s take: “Everything about him screams pretension: his perfectly gelled jet-black hair, his...

Hello everyone! I’m so excited about The Conclave’s cover that I’ve decided to throw a little party! Family Readers aka the Best Beta’s Ever

Posted by Tenille on May 12, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

I have always heard that you shouldn’t have family be your beta readers, that an author needs someone without prejudice and with impartiality to read their work. But I think that’s a big, huge misconception. Now, I know there are a few of my beta readers who don’t see anything wrong in my writing, no matter how wrong in might be (I love you, Mom!), but I am blessed with a family that doesn’t pull punches. Also they’re readers with a wide variety of strengths. I didn’t realize how lucky I was to have such a...

Review Tuesday – Horse Charmer

Posted by Tenille on May 9, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

Today’s review is Horse Charmer by Angelia Almos. I found this book through an email when it was having a free day. The picture and premise really called to my 10-year-old horse, crazy self and I grabbed it. It’s the story of a princess (Cassia) who’s father dies, leaving her kingdom in chaos. Under the direction of her mother, she travels to a neighboring kingdom to learn more about her father’s death and honor the last treaty he signed for her to marry the prince there. But, of course, things aren’t what they...

Converter News

Posted by Tenille on May 6, 2017 in In the Book, In the Publishing | 0 comments

My last three (or is it four?) blogs have been reviews. Obviously, I’m reading, but am I writing? Well, yes. Kinda. I’m editing, promoting, discussing, working on blurbs–all the writing asides that come with being an author. Above all, I’m planning. So, what is this marvelous plan, you ask? It’s a schedule for the release of The Conclave. The final schedule. It all stars with a cover reveal on the 25th of this month. (Yes, it’s that soon!!) The Convergence and The Keep will be free this day in celebration....

Review Tuesday – Moss Forest Orchid

Posted by Tenille on May 2, 2017 in In The Writing | 0 comments

It’s review time again! This week, I discovered I missed a new release from Shari L. Tapscott and so I snatched it right up. Moss Forest Orchid, as expected, was another great fantasy read. This is the story of Lucia’s quest to find a Moss Forest orchid and redeem herself after losing her and her partner’s savings. Along the way she encounters pirates, dragons, and inconvenient feelings for her ex-partner. Lucia is an adventuress and she epitomizes it. She’s spunky and tough, but she has this really soft, tender side....
